The Items We Carry

Over the last few days I’ve been seeing a flickr group called The Items We Carry. I’ve finally contributed my own photo to the group, so you can see what I carry with me, pretty much all the time.

I find this kind of thing fascinating. It really interests me what people carry [...]

Missing Potter (spoilers)

Jk Rowling has spoken about some of the bits she had intended to include in the 19 years later part of the last book. If you haven’t read it yet, don’t read it, but if you have then go ahead.

Dirty Car Art

What do you do if you see the back of a car thats caked in dirt? Right “clean me!”? or something similar? How about making a work of art?

jealouscomputers.com

It seems computers are getting jealous of the new “smart” phones.
All over the internet reports are flooding in of angry computers attacking their owners. A closer look reveals they all have one thing in common: a new Nokia N95 was on the scene of each incident.
I was looking at getting one of these, I’m [...]

Safari Keyboard Shortcut

I don’t know if this is purely OS X specific or if it’s purely Safari specific, but I just found a nice little shortcut. Pressing option (alt) and tab takes you to the top of the page, a useful little tip!

Mercury Music Prize Nominations

The Mercury Music Prize nominations have been announced. I’ve not heard of most of the bands, but the one I have heard of I believe should get it. They followed up their debut last year with another great album this year.

My Top Websites

getleaflets.com

I’ve seen a few “iPhone apps” around but this one seems to be the best thought out one. I know I will probably be making use of it once I get my iPhone, a while off yet though!

gSync goes live

Macness have released their final version of gSync. An app that allows bi-directional syncing of iCal and Google Calendar. I have been using it for most of it’s life through beta and can say it works perfectly. As an added bonus, in comparison to the similar Spanning Sync, it is priced much [...]

Google apps to add security software

Google is making more steps to take on Microsoft.
The search engine giant said the deal would allow it to provide more companies with web-based services similar to its Google Apps package.
Looks like they are really going for it now with the whole online apps market to replace desktop clients.

Official Re-design

I’m calling this version 5.0 of Electric Weekend even though I’ve been through a few different sets of clothes in the past. Although it is not a theme I have coded entirely myself, but a modified version of Depo Clean, I’m still really pleased with it. I’ve altered added and changed a fair [...]

Keyboards and GUI’s

Interesting article from the Firefox guys about GUI and GKUI’s. I’m a big fan of Quicksilver and am getting more and more into my workflow.

University Website

A great design for a University website. I really liked the styling and the way it just fits nicely into the student culture.

iPhone returns, anyone else? Thought not!

Someone took their iPhone back complaining it was expensive and that it’s battery sucked. Now, I’m not in the states and can’t comment, but I’ve read people saying his network is worse and more expensive than the iPhone deal.
